Ferns in the sky and in the garden

We were amazed by this pattern in the late afternoon sky as we drove home along the Shrewsbury bypass. The pattern looked so much like fern leaves.

Below are some photos of a few of our ferns planted throughout the garden wherever conditions allow. We now have a large collection.

A retired primary school head teacher, I now spend much of my time gardening in our quarter acre plot in rural Shropshire south of Shrewsbury. I share my garden with Jude my wife a newly retired teacher , eight assorted chickens and a plethora of wildlife. Jude does all the heavy work as I have a damaged spine and right leg. We also garden on an allotment nearby. We are interested in all things related to gardens, green issues and wildlife.

I have been dipping into the book you lent me – ‘The Wavewatcher’s Companion’ by Gavin Pretor- Pinney. He is the great ‘Cloudwatcher’, as you know, and sees waves in clouds and natural growth. ‘Waves’ are to be our Big Draw theme this year so can I add your cloud photo to our resources?
